Obliques isn't just a funny game,
it provokes tricky behavior
and develops several
qualities in players.
All kids & adults have
various reasons for
playing Obliques.

— S R Biraris, Inventor

Story of The Invention

Mr. Biraris is a retired high school teacher. He used to teach science, algebra and geometry. His passion about geometry lead to tricky ways of teaching and puzzle designing.

During the lockdown due to the global pandemic, he was confined in residence like all of us. With full of thoughts and time, he speculated about the tiles in his compound. Soon he reckoned pivotal role of diagonal in forming or spoiling various geometrical shapes. Embarking on the passionate command on geometry, he developed the design and rules of Obliques.

With this spark, concept of the Obliques was conceived.

In 2022 Mr. Biraris appeared in popular TV show on colors infinity: The Inventor Challenge. There he was called as Shantaram ji alias Kaka.

As the time progressed, Mr. Biraris decided to spread Obliques through organizational activities rather than commercial production & selling of the game. Thus he went on forming the chapters and community of Obliques.

From Inventor's Diary...

I always wondered during my teaching days whether there can't be a substitute to chess. It is often difficult for many students to generate interest in chess. Very few people get the will & skill to play chess. I never succeeded to develop that anticipated game

I never succeeded to develop that anticipated game due to various reasons. But my retirement and the pandemic came almost simultaneously. Fortunately & coincidentally I discovered and developed this game: Obliques.

Obliques has many tricks while playing, but it can be played with relatively relax mind. As it is based on just placements of diagonals, the kids get interest in Obliques. My goal is to take Obliques to each kid in world. Not only kids, but the people of all ages can play Obliques.

Motivation, if you wonder?
